Kitt Littlejohn / Director, Legal & Planning

Kitt Littlejohn is a Director and founding partner of Marina Development Partners, responsible for project consenting evaluation, strategy, stakeholder engagement, development structuring, and legal compliance and oversight.


Kitt brings extensive multi-disciplinary experience to the MDP team, including special expertise in maritime and marina development, project consent management and representation, corporate governance, and public relations. His recognised standing and regular appointment by local authorities as an independent resource management commissioner give him a unique perspective on natural resource development projects in New Zealand.


A qualified lawyer with 30 years’ post-admission experience, which includes advising Pine Harbour, Gulf Harbour, Bayswater and Hobsonville marinas, consenting Orakei Marina at Okahu Bay and other major coastal and property development projects, in 2016 Kitt partnered with Mair & Associates to investigate and successfully consent a 180-berth marina on Waiheke Island. Kitt was responsible for all legal and planning strategy, berth licencing, and business management.  He also assisted the construction management team and oversaw compliance and related construction issues. 


In 2023, Kitt was appointed as an independent director to the Board of Haydn and Rollett Ltd, a substantial and highly respected building and property development business.  In 2024, he accepted a similar role with Ergon Properties Ltd, which owns and manages a significant commercial property portfolio.  His governance role in these businesses has further broadened his exposure into and understanding of development feasibility and oversight.


Kitt's extensive experience in the legal and resource management spheres in New Zealand has informed has ability to develop and implement location specific project strategy, and has also assisted him to establish a wide network of professionals and relationships of importance with key stakeholders.


As a son of Taranaki and its surf beaches, Kitt has been in love with New Zealand’s coastline all of his life. Promoting marine development that enhances community access to this exceptional coastal environment, and which recognises and involves Tangata Whenua and local interests in a joint development and management model is Kitt’s passion.
